VMWare Infrastructure is an enterprise-class server product that can create and play many virtual machines in parallel. it is headless in that you must run a remote console client to 'view' running virtual machines. It does not require a host operating system, termed 'bare-metal'. It also supports a wide range of management products, including VMotion, Lab Manager, View Manager, etc.
Virtual Infrastructure is derived from the old ESX product line.
